My paintings embrace a wide range of inspiration from both past & present.
Born & brought up on the border of Devon & Cornwall, between Dartmoor & the Sea, with this rich heritage, my aim is to capture the essence of places I have a passion for.
These land & seascape areas of the South West coast continue to influence me & I’m fortunate enough to be able to return there regularly.

The challenge then becomes to interpret these special places. The atmospheric skies, ethereal light effects on land & sea, its wild open spaces, rich textures & wonderful muted colours .
Combined with all of this, I have a background interest in the local history & geology of these ancient places & landscapes ,often using fragments of prehistoric Dartmoor stones, earth pigments & beach finds to paint with & for mark making in my paintings, as a connection to this rich heritage & how my inspiration & style has evolved .

Along with painting & exhibiting ,many artworks are now in private collections in the UK ,USA, Italy ,Singapore, Philippines Switzerland & Malaysia.
I have also been an art teacher for 25 years, running weekly art groups & various workshops for Adults, children & business team building days in Devon, Cornwall & the Cotswolds , sharing these techniques for others to learn & enjoy & find their own artistic style within.

My seascapes and coastal paintings of Devon & Cornwall are full of moving skies and dramatic seas veiled with the layering of unique SW light. There is a sense of timelessness in the pull of the tides & a coastline that has been shaped by the weather and waves of the Atlantic over the centuries.
As well as originals, I offer large prints on paper and canvasses, to bring the sea into your home & take you back to the coast and relive your memories.
